West Bali – Pemuteran Village

Beautiful West Bali – Pemuteran Village

Pemuteran, a small laid-back fishing village on the northern coastal area of North Western Bali.
This is a small fishing village which has developed to be very famous for visitors in recent years. There are a number of beachfront resorts and its closeness to Lovina and West Bali National Park together with the extreme natural beauty of the area, has encouraged quite rapid growth in tourism infrastructure in the resort. Pemuteran is undoubtedly a home to the largest artificial Bio rock reef project in the world and there is a real spirit of marine conservation efforts in this resort

Visitors usually arrive in Pemuteran on the north coast road from Lovina or Singaraja or from the west in Gilimanuk. You will have no problem renting a car with driver or not to take you from Lovina to Pemuteran. It is better for you to fix the price in advance and make sure petrol is included or not. A direct ride/drive to Pemuteran from tourist centres in the southern part of Bali will take about four hours depending on traffic. Pemuteran is a great place to walk or get around by bicycle. Your hotel employees will be able to help you decide if you need to rent a motorbike or not.

Pemuteran Beach

Bio rock and Coral Reef right on the main beach is very rare anywhere on earth. Here it is also free! Just make your way to the beach, rent your goggles and snorkeling equipment then enter the water at the marked locations along the beach. Please make sure you put on sun blocks or at least a suitable t-shirt as you will be extremely tanned within 30 minutes. The reef and bio rock is so extensive so that you can easily spend a day here. There are no touts or other hassles at all. It is very Wheelchair friendly too. Dolphin watching boat trips at dawn can be arranged through any hotel. By no means guaranteed, but you have a decent chance of finding a pod here. The beaches are especially lovely in this resort and consist of a particularly fine grained black sand. Proyek Penyu is a turtle breeding and release project run by one of the dive operators in co-operation with local villagers. Thus, Pemuteran is very much worth visiting and certainly worth supporting. You can also go fishing in calm waters and you can charter a boat easily from the beach.

What to do in Pemuteran Bali

The hilly lands and mountains that form the southern backdrop to Pemuteran offer a lot of chances for interesting hiking and trekking. You can easily ask at your hotel for directions and/or a guide for trekking or hiking activities. There are several simple roadside warungs (eating stalls) serving typically traditional Balinese food. All of the hotels in the area commonly have restaurants open to the public. As might be imagined in a traditional fishing village, the seafood options are highly recommended.
There are more budget options opening and it is possible to stay in inexpensive prices with local people in their houses if you ask around once you come there. From Pemuteran you can at ease continue your trip around Bali to the east to Lovina or westwards to Gilimanuk.
